We Hit 150,000 Followers!

Our “Tom on Entrepreneurship” page is an extension of our experience and desire to share what we know with the world. We couldn’t be more grateful that people who join Quora decide to follow us and this next milestone of 150,000 followers. That’s three times the size of the town where I grew up. It means a lot and as we’ve said before, we take the role very seriously. Because of this, and because of feedback from our highly praised Zoom series every other Saturday morning, we’re rethinking some of what we do to better reflect how we can best help our clients.

In spite of all of this success with Quora, we were discussing how we usually win our clients and why they stay. We have a core group on our Zoom calls that are there every call. They are like family to us and we’re invested in their success. Join us to see for yourself! It’s fun too! Get to know us!

We made a list of all of our clients to date and we thought about how and why they engaged with us. There is a pattern to many. We have a specific group who ask us to come in, but don’t yet know they have a real problem until we present some typical milestones for a company their size. It’s only after asking questions that they become aware of their condition.

What we’ve come to realize is that we see things in our clients that they often don’t see. Sometimes we just confirm what they do see. One of our advisors pointed out that we get companies unstuck. We do! The problem is that about half our clients have no idea they are stuck in the first place until we get to know each other. All they know is progress seems slow. We’re now trying to come up with ways to get prospective clients to become more self-aware so their internal process of discovery leads them to the same conclusion we would draw, but on their own. It’s like going to the doctor. You won’t go unless the symptoms lead to the conclusion that you can’t fix the condition on your own. I hate to use the overused analogy. But like in medicine, self-diagnosis and getting it wrong, can sometimes be fatal.

Our value to our clients and media consumers, is a body of experience that comes from going into many companies and seeing what works and what doesn’t, and remembering how others either created or solved a problem. We then pass it along via Quora, Zoom, and other articles.

In the future, we plan to do more in the public domain and it will run parallel to our one-on-one client engagements to solve big and small problems. We’re just glad you’re here and your influence on our direction is deeply felt by all of us. Thank you for reading, participating in our Zoom series, and calling on us when you need help. Thank you all for your support.
