A New Board Seat
I just joined the board of FractionL, where I’ve been a member since May 2023. I’ve watched this small company grow during that time to over 2,000 members, including about 100 elite members. I’ve had a lot of fun, and they are the only marketing group I use to promote my services and manage my professional engagements. Joe Buchanan, the CEO, has been a pleasure to work with and is just a great human all around.
I’ve become a strong believer in fractional services and the formal structure they provide. I would have gladly used them when I was CEO. It's a great way to bring people into a company and work with them to see who is most effective. From the day I first met Joe, I couldn’t help but cheer him on, so when he asked me a few months ago if I’d consider joining the board, it was an instant "hell yes."
What I love about FractionL is that they never stop working to build a better company. These are the best kinds of companies to be a part of. The board meetings are fun, exciting, and filled with interesting people. We had our first board meeting today, and it ran long, but the time flew by. Those are the meetings I love. I also learned a lot from the others, even in just that first meeting.
I’ve always remembered my first board meeting with any company, and in the good ones, when it’s time to step down, I always feel a little sad about it because of all we've gone through in the process. I only join boards where I think I can be of value, and I’ve stepped off some where I didn’t feel I had anything more to offer.
I hope you all follow the progress of FractionL, and if you ever need fractional leadership, consider the group. They are excellent!
